The establishment of the Folklore Museum in 1974 can be characterized as one of the most important corresponding provincial Museums. The rich folkloric material of the Province (most of it from donations from Setiaks and the other from purchases) adorns the halls of the Museum and impresses the visitor.

The exhibits belong to the previous century and the beginning of our century. Famous embroideries textiles of exceptional art, wood carvings, local costumes, household goods, pictures and other items give a vivid picture of the old life of the inhabitants of Sitia. It is housed in a traditional building of the Municipality.
