It is located at “Patelia”, about 1 km NW of Sitanos, at an altitude of 610m. In eastern Crete, a chasm is called a chasm, a cave chasm, a sinkhole and generally a cave that has a steep and vertical entrance. The entrance of the cave is at the contact of limestone and phyllites.

It is an elongated gallery with a total length of about 1 km, making it one of the largest caves in Crete. Along the entire length of the gallery, the traces of large old water flows and small modern ones in rainy seasons are clearly visible.

This means that the cave was once an active underground riverbed that is now in rudimentary operation. This is due to the fact that the cave has very poor stone decoration.
