Richti Gorge

The Richti gorge is one of the most beautiful gorges of eastern Crete and in recent years, it has been one of the most popular destinations, with the number of visitors showing an increasing trend every year. Also, the gorge, as well as the wider area, is within the boundaries of the UNESCO World Geopark of Sitia and has been designated as a Georoute of special geological, historical and environmental interest.

Descending the path and after 1,800 meters the visitor arrives at the unique waterfall of Richti, 20 meters high, with the spectacle compensating even the most demanding hiker for choosing to cross the gorge. It starts just outside the village of Exo Mouliana and ends at the homonymous beach of Richti east of the village of Kalavros.

The total length of the route is about 4.5 kilometers and the altitude difference between entry and exit is about 350 meters. The time required to cross the gorge is about an hour and a half. It is recommended to return by the same road unless you are picked up by car from the beach.
