Chochlakia Gorge

A small and easily passable gorge in all conditions and seasons, it starts from the village of Chochlakies and ends at the wonderful Karoumes bay. To enter the gorge you pass through the village of Chochlakies and follow a very narrow street that leads to a church.

There is space to leave your car or motorbike and start hiking. The gorge is about 3 km long and the route lasts 1.5 hours.

It is quite difficult mainly because the stones it has are big. Inside the gorge there is a stream, parallel to the path, which is full of water most months of the year. The view you will see throughout the hike will captivate you with steep and high rocks circling you left and right and beautiful but few trees that have literally grown inside the rocks.

Some of them, after possible landslides, hang in the air and are held only by some of their roots in the rocks! At the end of the route there is the deep blue and pristine Karoumes beach.

Crystal clear waters, fine gravel, incredible scenery! The perfect reward after hiking. At Karoumes beach one can fish, camp and spend hours of rest and isolation.

There you will also find springs with fresh water. Before crossing the gorge, remember to stock up on water and snacks and take the essentials with you so you don’t carry too much weight on the way. The scenery will win you over!
