The unique palm forest in Europe with the beautiful beach and crystal clear sea at the north-eastern end of the province on Cape Sidero, is a uniquely beautiful corner of the Cretan land.

It consists of native Theophrastus palms (Phoenix Theofrasti) and is the only palm forest in Greece and Europe. In no other region of Europe is there anything comparable in size and beauty.

Its uniqueness is also the reason why it has been designated one of the 19 Aesthetic Forests of Greece and which in 1973 was included in the category of protected natural areas. Finikodasos Vai is a unique place that is really worth visiting. In addition to aesthetics, Vai also has great biological value.

The wetland that is created between the Palm Forest and the beach is important for birdlife, while an enormous wealth of marine life grows in the sea.
